Technically Gimme Praise isn’t a game. It’s an app I created out of a novelty need and for the technical experience of social media integration and ad revenue. This app was made entirely with GameMaker Studio and works on both Android and iOS devices.
I created this app for a few reasons – aside from the technical ones mentioned above. It all started with a friend wanting kudos/praise for a simple task over and over again. So I jokingly said, “You know what? I’m going to create an app so I can just hit a button and you will get your praise” – and so Gimme Praise was born.
The app has social media tie-ins with Facebook which is a technical first for me. So when the user hits the big red button they get a round of applause and some balloons released with a positive phrase/word. If the user wants, they can also post this achievement to their Facebook wall for recognition from their friends and family.
The app is completely free as I have incorporated ads in the app – mainly as a technical exercise rather than an expectation I will generate significant money. This project has been a great learning experience and although it’s a simple app it has already brought many laughs and smiles from my family/friends – so it’s been worth it!

What data is collected?
Personally, I don’t collect any information directly, however the advisement service used within the application (AdMob) does collect information about your device.
What do you do with this information?
AdMob uses your device information to ascertain the types of ads which can function on your device. Here is an excerpt from their website:
“AdMob uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK. The Google Mobile Ads SDK helps app developers gain insights about their users, drive more in-app purchases, and maximize ad revenue. In order to do so, the default integration of the Mobile Ads SDK collects information such as device information, publisher-provided location information, and general in-app purchase information such as item purchase price and currency.” (Source: https://firebase.google.com/docs/admob/)
As mentioned, I use the Google AdMob service to deliver ads within my application. In accordance with Googles policy on required content, you need to be aware of the following:
